Spencer's work
My penchant for writing started in elementary school when my first essay, a fictional account about a game of H-O-R-S-E between Michael Jordan and myself, was submitted to Coca-Cola for a chance to win a year’s supply of Coke. My dreams of winning a year’s supply of Coca-Cola may have been dashed by losing the writing contest (I maintain to this day that it was rigged), but my dreams of becoming a professional writer have only continued to evolve.

I began my career as a professional writer a decade ago, getting my start as a writer and editor for a travel guide publisher. The decade since has seen me work for myself as a freelance writer and photographer, with my writing having appeared in the Los Angeles Times, National Geographic, Outside Magazine, AFAR Magazine, AOL Travel, Yahoo, Time Out, Travel + Leisure, and Expedia, where I served as the Editor-in-Chief of Expedia Viewfinder.
However, my work the last few years has evolved to include content strategy, social media strategy, pr, influencer marketing, email marketing, SEO, website design, event activations, video, and more. Brands I’ve worked with have ranged from tourism boards, like Travel Alberta and Tourism Australia, to other types of travel and lifestyle brands that have included Expedia, Delta Air Lines, Norwegian Cruise Line, DreamWorks (on the movie Mr. Peabody and Sherman), Bank of America, Capital One, Anheuser-Busch, and Elijah Craig Bourbon, just to name a few.
